Patrick Quirk joins Supply Management leader Emptoris as CEO

The Lancer Group places former PeopleSoft and Golden Gate Software exec with Marlin Equity portfolio company

October 09, 2009

Burlington, MA – (October 1, 2009) – The Lancer Group is pleased to announce that Emptoris, a provider of enterprise supply and contract management software, has appointed Patrick Quirk as President and CEO.

In less than 35 days The Lancer Group successfully recruited Patrick Quirk to Emptoris. Private equity firm, Marlin Equity Partners, acquired Emptoris in January 2009. In August, Marlin Equity selected The Lancer Group to launch a nationwide CEO search.

According to procurement analyst Jason Busch at Spend Matters,

“If Patrick can do half of what he did at PeopleSoft, I’m sure his appointment
will go down as one of the best executive hiring decisions in the sector.”

Quirk joins Emptoris from private equity firm Summit Partners’ portfolio company, Golden Gate Software, a provider of data integration solutions. The company was sold to Oracle (NASDAQ:ORCL) for a successful multiple.

Quirk previously served as General Manager and Group Vice President of Supply Chain Management (SCM) Products and Technology at PeopleSoft. In his role, he was responsible for an organization of 500+ professionals globally and oversaw all aspects of the SCM business including product strategy, product development, marketing and global support. Under Quirk’s leadership, PeopleSoft’s SCM solutions received consistently high customer satisfaction ratings (91%) and were in the top 10 selling modules out of more than 375 PeopleSoft products.

Prior to PeopleSoft, Quirk served as Vice President of the Americas for Aspect Development, which was acquired by i2 Technologies for $9.4 Billion. At Aspect, Quirk helped create the SRM marketplace and tripled revenues over three years, selling primarily to Fortune 500 companies. Post-acquisition, Quirk served as Vice President of Marketplaces for i2 Technologies (NASDAQ:ITWO).
